چکیده
Mucormycosis is a very commonly encountered disease in the sinonasal region patients with diabetes and immunocompromised status specially northern part of Indian continent. Due to its fulminant nature involvement rhino-orbital-cerebral region, prognosis poor even after extensive debridement amphotericin-B therapy. We present case diagnosis sarcoidosis being treated systemic steroids who developed sudden-onset ptosis left lateral rectus palsy. On radiological evaluation MRI, heterogenously peripherally enhancing lesion was seen nasopharynx suggestive nasopharyngeal abscess. The patient taken up for emergency surgery; necrotic destruction sphenoid bone, pterygoids clivus originating nasopharynx. on fungal staining came out be broad aseptate hyphae mucormycosis.

Fungal skull base osteomyelitis: Emerging microbial identification techniques.
Culture-based pathogen identification in skull base osteomyelitis, particularly for fungi, is often inaccurate. We report the case of patient with fungal skull base osteomyelitis cured by sustained antifungal therapy after 16 months of debilitating illness. Due to medical complications, a strong clinical rationale was needed to justify long-term antifungal therapy. The offending fungus was iden...

Abstract Background: Invasive fungal infection is an opportunistic infection caused commonly by mucoraccae and aspergillus. It mostly occurs in patients with underlying disease. Since it has a high mortality and morbidity rate, considering a treatment strategy seems necessary. Objective: Since there has not been a clear protocol for treating these patients, we decided to establish...

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS Skull base osteomyelitis (SBO) most commonly results as a complication of otitis externa in diabetic patients. Central or atypical presentations, unrelated to aural pathology, have been documented, though restricted to small patient series or case reports. The current study systematically analyzed the literature to construct the clinical profile of this rare entity. STUD...
